Philippa Hyde - not by Handel at UK summer festivals

Philippa Hyde is singing Eccles’s Semele in the Suffolk Villages Festival on Bank Holiday Monday 28 May: in the original version, with a libretto written for Eccles to use but which was later taken on by Handel. Eccles’s version was never performed in his lifetime.

On 23 June she'll be at Stour Music in Kent to sing the role of Adonis in Pepusch's Venus and Adonis - also on CD from Ramee - and according to The Guardian "taxing the soloists to the limit with some virtuoso coloratura arias".
