Jennifer Westwood

Jennifer Westwood (Mezzo-Soprano) graduated from Birmingham University with first class honours and went on to train at the Britten-Pears School and the Royal Northern College of Music.

For several years Jennifer was a member of the celebrated Bayreuther Festspielchor, from which she sang small ensemble and solo roles (Edelknabe, Lehrbube, Edeldame) both at the Bayreuth Festspielhaus and on tour in Barcelona, Lucerne and Toulouse. In the UK, she has sung the roles of 1st Norn, Erda,Schwertleite and Rossweisse (Der Ring des Nibelungen) and Solo Blumenmädchen, Voice from Above (Parsifal) and Flosshilde (Götterdämmerung) in London. As a chorister, she has sung in all of Wagner's chorus operas at Covent Garden and joined them for Die Meistersinger in 2017.

Her oratorio performances have included Lincoln Cathedral (Rachmaninov and Stanford), Peterborough Cathedral (Mass in B Minor), Beverley Minster (Elijah), Ripon Cathedral (Verdi Requiem, Dvoràk Stabat Mater) and St Andrew's Halls, Norwich (Alexander Nevsky). She has sung the Angel in The Dream of Gerontius in Hong Kong for the HK Bach Choir, has toured Finland (Petite Messe Solennelle, Vivaldi's Gloria) and has appeared with the Lindsays and Ensemble 360 in Music in the Round Festivals at Sheffield’s Crucible.

Other roles include Sorceress (Dido and Aeneas), Carmen, 3rd Lady (The Magic Flute), Begbick (The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny) and Maddalena (Rigoletto). Jennifer records for Opera Rara with Sir Mark Elder and has taken part in ENO's recent Olivier Award-winning productions.Jennifer sings with the chorus of The Royal Opera, Covent Garden each season, also appearing with them at The Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms, at Symphony Hall, Birmingham and on their 2015 tour to Japan. She was the alto soloist in The Royal Opera House's 2015 Christmas concert in the Paul Hamlyn (Floral) Hall, singing Saint-Saens' Oratorio de Noël.
