New York Times reviews London Handel Players’ concert at the Frick

“Ms. Brown played the virtuosic opening movement with sparkling clarity and brought a soulful depth to the second movement of the sonata…The four members of the ensemble — Ms. Brown; Adrian Butterfield, violinist; Katherine Sharman, cellist; and Laurence Cummings, harpsichordist — opened the program with a Trio Sonata in A by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach…consummate skill and musicianship… Elegantly accompanied by Mr. Cummings, Mr. Butterfield offered  warm sound, expressive nuances and graceful ornamentation in Benda’s Violin Sonata in E flat…“We thought it would be a shame to make our New York debut without playing some Handel,” Mr. Cummings said before a lovely interpretation of an arrangement of an aria from Alcina.”
